Monmouth Medical Center

Monmouth Medical Center is a 527-bed community teaching hospital, located in Long Branch, N.J., that is an affiliate of the Saint Barnabas Health Care System — the state’s largest health care system. It has earned “accreditation with commendation” from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations — the agency’s highest and most prestigious rating. In addition to the nearly 20,000 adult and pediatric inpatients and nearly 13,000 surgeries performed annually, Monmouth Medical handles 150,000 patient visits through its many outpatient departments and ambulatory services Monmouth has nearly 800 members on its medical and dental staff — trained in primary care medicine, as well as in 60 recognized subspecialties including obstetrics, gynecology and laparoscopic surgery.  Few Obstetrics/ Gynecology Departments in America have the distinction of delivering world-class services for infertility, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, and maternal-fetal high-risk medicine, in addition to exceptional maternity services. We do. We continue to receive national recognition. Monmouth Medical Center boasts over 3,000 deliveries per year, the 3rd highest in the State of New Jersey.  Also, our renowned OB/GYN Residency Program has been operational for decades and is a fully accredited 4-year program. 

Monmouth’s medical staff includes certified nurse-midwives—registered nurses who are specially trained to provide normal maternity, newborn and well-woman gynecological care.  

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Monmouth Medical Center provides the most sophisticated newborn care to  sick babies and premature infants from all over the state of New Jersey.   Monmouth opened the Regional Newborn Center in 1968, becoming the first hospital in New Jersey and the first community hospital in the country to establish a newborn intensive care unit.  In addition to providing care to babies born at our own perinatal center, we also provide High Risk Infant Neonatal Transport Service 24 hours around the clock to a minimum of 10 hospitals in our region.   The center is a leader in its highly specialized field, attaining a high degree of success over its 30-year history of treating infants with a variety of complex conditions. This is reflected in state statistics that show MMC has one of the highest infant survival rates among neonatal ICU's in New Jersey - nearly 98 percent of babies who receive care here are able to grow and develop so that they can be brought home by their parents.


Riverview Medical Center

Riverview Medical Center, incorporated in 1928, began in a renovated boarding house on Union Street, with 29 beds, one operating room, a delivery suite, and facilities for six newborns. Today, Riverview is a thriving 461-bed acute care hospital serving the northern region of Monmouth County. From the beginning, their mission has been to offer the highest quality care possible to their patients in an environment that is technically advanced, easily accessible, and close to home. The Women & Children's Pavilion, with beautiful private maternity suites, many with a view of the Navesink River, and quality of care that consistently maintains the highest in patient satisfaction, has one of the largest number of births in the area. In addition, Riverview's Women's Diagnostic Center offers state-of-the-art mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, ultrasound and bone densitometry in one comfortable, easily accessible location.
